Interview with... Amanda Massey

Amanda Massey is Head of Partnership & Distribution at MAPFRE ABRAXAS and she talks about her views, plans and objectives for 2012.
Are you feeling positive going into 2012?
Yes of course! We had a good year in 2011 but I’m keen to build on this. There are challenges with the economy, consumer spending, new car volumes etc, but the automotive industry as a whole has to remain positive and not allow ourselves to be talked into the doldrums.
What are your business objectives for 2012?
We’re ambitious at MAPFRE ABRAXAS and like to set the bar high. We’re looking to grow the business and one of my key objectives is to develop new relationships with dealers. In addition, I’ll also be looking to make sure that our existing dealer partners are maximising every insurance opportunity that comes their way which will ultimately help their bottom line and ours.
What are the hot topics in the insurance world for 2012?
There is still plenty of discussion in the industry and the media about the ABI Good Practice Guidelines, which I think will continue to be a hot topic this year. We’ve made our position clear that we support the principles behind the guidelines, we’re fully geared up internally to comply with them and have been for some time and we’re on hand to support dealers when they decide they need our help on this.
What makes you get up in the morning and come to work?
I could say my alarm clock or my mortgage here but I won’t! On a serious note, it’s the fact that I’ve got a great team of account managers across the UK that are all dedicated to providing the support dealers need. They’re highly motivated and passionate about what they do which makes working with them a pleasure. This together with the ambition of MAPFRE ABRAXAS makes getting up pretty easy – even when the alarm goes off at 5.30am!
