As this is the first e-bulletin of 2012, then let me begin by saying a slightly belated Happy New Year to you all. I’m sure you’ve already put lots of effort in to getting 2012 off to a flying start.

The end of 2011 saw a strong set of results for us at MAPFRE ABRAXAS and overall for the UK arm of MAPFRE ASISTENCIA (of which we are a part). This was quite fitting as the end of 2011 also saw the end of an era. Our UK Chief Executive, Gregorio Santos, ended his successful tenure in the role to return to MAPFRE in Spain where he will lead the company’s Business Development and Marketing activities on a global basis.

The UK operations have moved forward considerably under Gregorio’s stewardship but it is with great pleasure that I’m pleased to announce that Pablo Alvert will succeed him and be responsible for all of MAPFRE’s automotive, travel and home assistance operations in the UK. Pablo brings with him a wealth of experience of the insurance sector and a drive to deliver results for our customers.

At MAPFRE ABRAXAS we’re looking forward to working with our existing partners to build on the success of 2011 and, of course, to hopefully working with many new partners in 2012 as well. We’re confident that our products, systems and service are amongst the best on the market and that our account management and support make us stand out from the crowd.
